Engaging your community
Columbia Missourian city editor Scott Swafford reminded us to be open to all voices and sources because every socioeconomic group feels the effects of economic inequality. Engaging your community, either in person or via social media, is important for your audience to feel comfortable sharing its stories. Some groups might be more difficult than others to connect with, and some may have more access to technology. Work with your newsroom staff to decide which of these ideas could work for you and your audience.
